APPLICATIONS FOR UV WATER DISINFECTION
Ultraviolet light (UV) is often used to disinfect water for a wide variety of applications. UV sterilization is used for aquariums, ultrapure water processing for semiconductor manufacturing, purified water for pharmaceuticals, and disinfection for the beverage industry.
Microelectronic fabricators and Pharmaceutical manufacturers have the most stringent requirements for purified and ultrapure water. It is widely recognized by these industries that UV systems are important components of a comprehensive water treatment system, and necessary for achieving the high quality for their products.
Other important industries are Food & Beverage manufacturers, Process and Waste Water applications, cooling water used in power generation facilities and oil field water processing.
The disinfection properties, and lack of residual by-products associated with UV, are powerful advantages versus chemical and addivie alternatives.
Virtually any manufacturing operation that requires water can benefit from using UV for treating process water and/or waste water.
Advanced oxidation processes, which capitalize on the synergistic affects of using UV in conjunction with ozone and/or hydrogen peroxide, are creating new opportunities for enhanced UV purification of water.
