UV Sciences Inc. (UVSI) was founded in 2002 by Dr. J.R. Cooper to develop new technologies related to applications using ultraviolet light sources. UVSI has developed and continues to develop first-of-a kind innovations for UV water disinfection. These innovations greatly improve the performance and efficiencies of ultraviolet disinfection systems.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

Dr. J. R. Cooper, Founder, President, and Chairman of the Board, founded Ultraviolet Sciences in 2002. Dr. Cooper has 20 years professional experience and 12 years direct experience in product line and general management in capital equipment businesses. This includes the development and launch of six completely new products and numerous second-generation products during that period. He previously held the positions of Vice President, Engineering and Development for PurePulse Technologies from 1996-2000 and Vice President, Engineering at TEAL Electronics from 2000-2002. Dr. Cooper holds a Ph. D. in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University.

Ron Chaffee, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and VP Business Development, joined UV Sciences February 2009. He has more than 25 years of Management experience in the technology industry. Before joining UV Sciences he was the CEO & President at Symwave responsible for leading a $12 million Series C capital investment. Prior to Symwave, he was the Vice President of Engineering for the Broadband Media Products Business Unit at Conexant Systems, overseeing 400+ R&D staff resources at seven sites around the world. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University and has completed the Executive Program for Scientists and Engineers (EPSE) at UC San Diego.

George Diefenthal, VP Operations, joined Ultraviolet Sciences in June 2007. His most recent position was Logistics Manager at General Atomics, Electronic Systems Inc., a position he held for three years. Prior to that, he was a Consultant with clients including Oliver Wight Company and Caterpillar, Inc. Mr. Diefenthal was VP Operations of PurePulse Technologies from 1998-2001. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a M.B.A., both from San Diego State University.

Michael Lesniak, VP Sales and Marketing, joined Ultraviolet Sciences in September 2008. He has over 15 years experience in sales and marketing positions, including large OEMs and End Users. He was co-founder of Wireless Data Services, Inc. a mobile telecommunications company, holding the position of VP of Sales. He is also a partner and board member of Inalambrica, a telecommunications company headquartered in Costa Rica, Central America. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
